I make sangria pretty often, but the best I've made was for the Halloween party we had at our apartment. Click 'read more' to see the recipe!
Ingredients
1 bottle (250mL) inexpensive red wine. I used Bogle Cabernet Sauvignon.
2 lemons
6 tangerines (or 3 oranges)
8 heaping tablespoons frozen mixed berries (raspberries, blackberries, blueberries)
1 two-liter bottle Sierra Mist (regular flavor)
Method
First scrub your lemons and tangerines clean and rinse thoroughly.
Slice the lemons and tangerines into thin slices (1/8 to 1/4 inch) and divide them evenly between your serving vessels. I used 3 pitchers for our party but sangria is often served in a giant punch bowl.
Divide the frozen berries evenly between the pitchers.
Pour the wine over the fruit, dividing the volume evenly between the pitchers.
Put in the fridge and allow to steep for at least 3 hours before serving. I steeped mine for 5 hours.
Just before the party starts, add Sierra Mist to the sangria until you are satisfied with the carbonation and flavor. I used about 3/4 of the two-liter bottle.
Serve cold and make sure each person gets a few pieces of steeped fruit in their drink.
